Dr. John SimmonsDr. John Simmons believes that every patient deserves the very highest level of expertise and service. He strives to deliver on that belief with extensive education, exquisite artistry, vast experience and meticulous precision, balanced with a gentle and caring chairside manner. His career spans more than 25 years, many of them dedicated to caring for families here and in surrounding communities.
After graduating from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1982, Dr. Simmons served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy for several years. He later returned to the metro Atlanta area, where he has been in private practice for over 20 years. His general practice focuses on complex cosmetic restoration, temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and occlusal therapy.
Despite his impressive experience, Dr. Simmons is devoted to continuing his dental education in order to learn the newest procedures, therapies and techniques for the benefit of his patients. He has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, and is a graduate of the L.D. Pankey Institute, the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, and the LSU Esthetic Continuums I and II. Dr. Simmons is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and is one of only a handful of Georgia dentists with a accredited membership in the AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry).
Although he is motivated by providing excellent patient care, such dedication does not go unrecognized by his peers. In the summer of 2004, Dr. Simmons was honored to have an article published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. A year later he was presented with the silver medal at the AACD convention for the outstanding results he achieved for one of his patients.
It only takes one visit to see that Dr. Simmons has shared his caring manner and commitment to excellence with the Smiles by Simmons staff. His entire team works together to exceed patient expectations, and all have words of praise for Dr. Simmons. As one hygienist said, “Dr. Simmons is an honorable man and puts the needs of others before his own. He feels blessed, and desires to share the blessing whenever and however he can.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Simmons enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and three beautiful daughters, water skiing on Lake Burton in the North Georgia mountains, tending his beloved roses, and worshiping and serving at his church.
Linda, Dental HygienistLinda has been taking great care of our dental patients for many years. As a hygienist, Linda enjoys the opportunity to serve others while encouraging dental health and wellness. She believes that Dr. Simmons and the entire team provide the excellent service and enjoyable experience each patient desires during their visit. "We have a warm and caring atmosphere, treating our patients with the utmost care and respect while also having fun enjoying life through laughter," she says. One thing you'll love under Linda's care is that you have her undivided attention. With compassion and concern, her goal is to help you understand how to have optimal dental health. In her spare time, Linda enjoys spending time with her family, serving in her church, boating, vacations and sewing.
Becky, Dental HygienistFirst a patient of Smiles by Simmons, we are now proud to have Becky as a part of our hygiene team. A hygienist for over 40 years, Becky is proud to serve others, contributing to the community and helping each patient enjoy a healthy lifestyle. "Every patient who walks through these doors is received like a precious gift. Dr. Simmons and the rest of our team feel blessed that we can share in our patients' lives through the service of dentistry," she notes. Becky realizes the rewards of her service daily through strong patient relationships and the compliment of those patients referring their family and friends. Married for over 40 years, Becky and her husband lead a very active social life through their church. She is also a tennis fanatic where her greatest competitors are her granddaughters!
Wendy, Dental AssistantNothing brings Wendy great joy like helping people and making them smile! "We go above and beyond to make each patient feel comfortable and happy - treating them like family," she says. By giving you the attention and care you deserve, she believes that you will truly enjoy the experience, as if being at a "dental spa." Wendy is especially proud to be a part of a dental team that works well together. "My highest respect goes to Dr. Simmons. He does great work. He's a perfectionist, and we all strive to be that way." Vanessa, Dental AssistantWith her personal touch, Vanessa continues to make every patient feel at ease and very comfortable while under her care. Away from the office, Vanessa finds time to serve in short term dental missionary trips in countries abroad as well as providing help during disaster and hurricane relief programs.
Susan, Financial Coordinator"I feel fortunate to work in an office where changing a smile changes a life," states Susan. Susan and her husband Jeff have two children and they enjoy spending time at Lake Lanier. She also stays busy with baseball, cheerleading and leading a Girl Scout troop.
Tracie, Patient CoordinatorTracie continually adds to our atmosphere with her friendly disposition, treating you as another member of our growing family. As she warmly welcomes you to the practice, you will find her ready to provide you with an exceptional level of service and care. "Our office is easy going and wonderful to work with," she says.
